As far as medal counts go, here’s a list of the top 10 women from the London 2012 Paralympics. We’re aware that many women tied on medals, so the list goes in alphabetical order. This is just a snap shot of the awesome achievements gained by women at the Paralympics, a Games that proved women most definitely can play sport too.

I’m not sure that it was even worth getting in the water in the S7 events during London 2012 if Jacqueline Frene was in the pool. Taking home 8 gold medals, Jacqueline beat Siobhan Paton’s previous 2000 Sydney Olympic record Gold medal haul by two, taking her overall medal pile to 8 golds and a trio of bronzes won previously at Beijing 2008. At only 20 years old though this can only be the start from Jacqueline as we look forward to Rio 2016!
