2012 ICC Women’s World Twenty20

From the 26th – 7th October Sri Lanka hosts the 3rd ICC Women’s World Twenty20. 8 of the top women’s T20 cricket teams will take to the pitch, with England beginning their campaign on 27th September against Pakistan in an attempt to regain the glory of their 2009 title.  Looking at their performance in the warm up matches its not surprising that England are fully confident about their chances, although with previous runners up New Zealand playing well in warm up and 2010 winners Australia also wining their pre tournament matches , England are also being sensible about the games ahead.

In a quote blatantly stolen from the BBC website, Captain Charlotte Edwards summarised up the teams approach to the competition this year,

“We are not going to get carried away thinking about semi-finals and finals, we have to focus on each individual game. We learnt that in the last World Twenty20.

“But if we do that and play good cricket we know we are a good enough team to win the competition.”
